As a Visual Brand/Graphic Design Intern at Active Minds, I worked to support the organization’s mission of changing the culture around mental health through design. In this role, I collaborate with the Visual Brand team to create visual content for marketing, campaigns, and social media, ensuring alignment with Active Minds’ brand identity. I assist in the development of creative assets, refine my design skills under the guidance of my mentor and supervisor, and actively contribute to projects that raise awareness and educate audiences on mental health. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in graphic design while allowing me to contribute to meaningful work in the nonprofit sector, deepening my passion for mental health advocacy.

After completing my internship, I continued working with Active Minds as a freelance Graphic Designer, expanding my role and responsibilities within the organization. In this role, where I initially started as a graphic design intern, I create B2B design assets such as email headers, letterhead templates for donors, one-pager inserts, blog headers, and social media posts. These assets are used to promote mental health initiatives, raise awareness, and engage with our community. My supervisor has praised my ability to maintain consistency across all touchpoints while ensuring the work communicates the core messages effectively. I also regularly work within brand guidelines, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and manage multiple deliverables under tight timelines

Email & Blog Headers

I created visually engaging email and blog headers that reflect the organization’s mission of mental health awareness and education. These headers weren’t just decorative, they played a key role in drawing readers in, establishing tone, and reinforcing brand consistency across digital platforms. What makes this work really special is how it blends thoughtful design with purpose. Each header was crafted to be informative, emotionally resonant, and aligned with the organization’s values. I had to think critically about hierarchy, typography, color, and imagery to ensure the design would both catch attention and support the message, whether it was a donor email, a mental health resource, or a campaign blog post.

This project also strengthened my skills in brand communication, fast-paced content creation, and adapting design to fit multiple formats and screen sizes.

Social Media Post Design

I designed a social media post for the A.S.K. (Acknowledge, Support, Keep-in-Touch) campaign, a collaboration between Active Minds and MTV Entertainment Studios aimed at empowering young people to support peers facing mental health challenges. The post featured impactful statistics highlighting the campaign's effectiveness in preparing youth to offer emotional support. This design contributed to a broader initiative promoting peer-to-peer mental health support, providing young individuals with practical tools to assist those in nee

Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) Campaign

I led the visual direction for Active Minds’ Mental Health Awareness Month campaign, collaborating across departments to deliver a cohesive and impactful design system. I managed the creation and delivery of key assets including banners, email headers, logo lockups, letter templates, and informational inserts. Working closely with development, marketing, and outreach teams, I ensured brand alignment and timely execution. The final designs received positive feedback from team members and helped amplify the campaign’s reach and clarity.
